What happens after 300k queries?

NextDNS can be used for free up to 300k queries per month. Once this limit is reached, it becomes a standard DNS resolver, with no filtering, no logging etc.

You get a first email notification when crossing 250k queries and another one when the 300k limit is reached.

A paid plan gives unlimited queries.

I understand that the logging and blocking features stop working after 300K queries.
But am I correct in saying that the DoH stays active and your queries are still sent over HTTPS to NextDNS?

If in Settings - Logs - Retention you set up a period shorter than 1 month or if you did a Clear logs or  you changed the Storage location of course you can't figure it out.

I disabled logging in the settings so how are you keeping track of the number of requests if there are no logs being saved?

      IP you can't

IP Logs save the domains that are hit, if they are blocked or not and other information like what IP and client requested the domain. The amount of requests you made, that's different, on free accounts, they have to keep track of the information to stop abuse.

So, logs save domains and how they were processed and information about them.

The amount of queries made is probably seen to stop absue and doesn't have any real information as it's simply the amount of requests a user made nothing identifiable, if they didn't limit it, I mean why would people buy pro most people would simply abuse the system.

Hey I did not ask 'why' but 'how' are they able to track the number of queries without logging? Are there any other logs we are not aware about? (privacy issue)

IP it's just a counter incremented per request / per account, this does not require logging.

Hello, So the 300k queries reset every month like I used 300k queries this February then does that mean the 300k queries reset when it hits The first of March? And all the restricted features will now be open again?

Could we get a detailed information on what features can we get under 300k queries, and what features are turned off once the limit is reached?

Rhizen once the limit is reached, all features except basic DNS resolution are disabled. It becomes like using a standard DNS resolver.

NextDNS so it just basically converts hostname into an IP address right? But is it still complies with your privacy policy that protects users' data even though the 300k queries are used up? it is just the features that will be disabled?

Rhizen it won’t protect you anymore.

NextDNS Just to make it clear, features and privacy policy are two different thing. Are you saying that by using your service and I have used up all 300k queries, all statement indicated in your privacy policy (here: https://nextdns.io/privacy) will not apply to me? So you have the ability to log and sell my data?

Rhizen our privacy *policy* still applies. When reaching 300k, nothing is logged anymore, so there would be nothing to sell anyway.
