Multiple IOS devices-same reported name in profile

I have been fighting this for a while and decided to blow all profiles out, create only one and start over.
Setup/test: One Profile, UDM SE router with DNS IP's set on the primary network, Laptop with DNS app configured with profile ID.
Initially laptop was not logging so I linked the IP, Laptop reported name correctly and is logging
ADD: iPhone 11, Apple device name Chief, NextDNS app with profile ID. In the settings, within the NextDNS app, the share device name lists (iPhone) and I cant change it. This IOS device reports to NEXTDNS web as "iPhone", with a subheading of "iPhone 11". It reports to the log file correctly.
ADD: iPhone SE, Apple device name Anna, NextDNS app with profile ID. In the settings, within the NextDNS app, the share device name lists (iPhone) and I cant change it. This IOS device reports to NEXTDNS web as "iPhone", with a subheading of "iPhone SE". iPhone 11 was replaced and disappeared from drop down menu.
This is a problem due to the NextDNS app naming the devices both iPhone. Then the problem real problems start.
While viewing the logs, with the activity polling engaged, I executed a random app on the SE device, the dropdown list of devices changed from iPhone 11 to iPhone SE, log file reports dns queries correctly. Or I thought. Stopped the SE app, started app on the 11, the dropdown list of devices changed back to iPhone 11, THEN the log entries that were initially attributed to the old entries of the SE device, now all entries have changed to show the 11 device.
How can I change the reporting name of the NextDNS app and allow the apple device to pass through.

Since iOS 16 Apple have not allowed apps to access your set device name.
I would suggest you try out a different app to connect to NextDNS on one of the iPhones (I'm using DNSecure). There you can set a device name to whatever you want.

I will look into that app but it pisses me off that IF this is true of NextDNS, why dont they make the change to allow the same. Free DNSecure or $20 NextDNS?? basic math.

FYI: I downloaded the DNSecure on my iPhone 11, disabled NextDNS. Log reporting was correct. Tested the iPhone SE and NextDNS acted exactly the same as before. It replaced the 11 log entries with SE.
I'll keep looking into it.
