Why can't Youtube ads be blocked?

Some services like Youtube are using techniques to prevent ad-blockers from blocking their ads. It is unfortunately impossible to block them using DNS ad blocking at this time.

It's called 'Adblocker for Youtube' and it does remove very annoying youtube ads. Neither uBlock Origin nor NextDNS nor Pihole remove Youtube ads like this addon does.

      T. Matthews Well I can't say much on that, since I never experienced uBlock Origin fail, but I do not use YouTube directly nowadays so it doesn't really matter to me, sad that it doesn't work for you, atleast you got a replacement addon for it.

What is the best setup for Ad-Blocking ??

    __________

After a short research this is what I found so far:

Best DNS level Adblocking: NextDNS / Adguard DNS 2.0

Best system-wide endpoint level Adblocking: AdGuard / Blokada / StopAd

Best browser Adblocking: Brave Browser / uBlock Origin

    Best self-hosted Adblocking: Pi-Hole / AdGuard Home

    ____________

Are there any other recommendations worth checking out?

What do you think is the best combination for blocking advertisements on all levels and devices, including various end devices such as smart TVs and so on.

Marcos Paglione Unfortunately that wouldn't work at least properly as even if you block the domains and manage to not block the same domain as the videos YouTube app stops playing videos until ads are accessed again.

So, I'd say that only real option would be to get YouTube Premium, or third party methods.

I'm saying this as I've gone through the painful process of manually blocking/allowing domains and it would either have both the video and the ad served from the same domain where the videos wouldn't play or after a few videos the app wouldn't allow you to play any more content without another ad.

Erwin van Hal I noticed that too, the only way to block ads on YouTube is to install the Fair Adblocker extension. I love this extension! It Blocks Ads, Tracking, Adware, Popups, and Malware! I will put a link here for you to check out!  Fair AdBlocker - Chrome Web Store (google.com) or go to their website to install the extension to your browser.   Ad blocker & Pop-Ups Blocker | StandsApp

Actually they can be blocked, once you have clicked on the video, if you block the domain “youtube.com” they will not be played again for the rest of the video.

In the three years since you posted this, you have not been able to block ads on YouTube? Then how does Brave do it? Why haven't you come up with a method to block ads on YouTube in three years? As a new customer, I am disappointed also that you do not provide customer service. The only good thing I can say is, your DNS is lightning fast.  But it seems you are a greedy company, not willing to build and maintain it over the long run. Money above all else seems to be your motto.
