Ping Issue in Turkiye

Hello,
I’ve been experiencing intermittent web browsing issues for the past few days while using NextDNS with Turkcell Superonline in Türkiye.

I ran the diagnostics and noticed some potentially abnormal routing / steering behavior.

Environment

  • ISP: Superonline Iletisim Hizmetleri A.S. (AS34984)
  • Country: Türkiye
  • Protocol: DoH
  • IPv6: Disabled
  • Client status: OK

What I’m observing

Despite lower latency nodes being available, steering seems inconsistent and sometimes routes through higher latency paths.

For example:

  • zepto-sof: 19 ms
  • anexia-sof: 36 ms
  • zepto-buh: 42 ms
  • edgeuno-ist: 60 ms
  • zepto-ist: 272 ms

However, Ultra Low Latency steering selected:

  • Primary: edgeuno-ist (60 ms)

This seems unusual because Sofia and Bucharest nodes appear significantly faster.

I also noticed:

  • Routing frequently goes through GTT and Frankfurt before returning to Istanbul.
  • zepto-ist shows extremely high latency (~272 ms), which looks abnormal for a local Istanbul node.
  • Browsing delays started only recently; previously performance was stable.

Additional observations

  • Some traceroutes show packet loss / timeout hops (* * *), although final connectivity succeeds.
  • Anycast routing to Frankfurt appears more stable than Istanbul in some cases.
  • The issue mainly manifests as slow page loads, delayed DNS resolution, or intermittent stalls during browsing.

Questions

  1. Is there currently an issue with the Istanbul POP (zepto-ist or edgeuno-ist)?
  2. Could steering be misclassifying my route quality?
  3. Is there a recommended way to force Sofia/Bucharest nodes temporarily?
  4. Has there been any recent routing/provider change affecting Turkish ISPs?

I can provide the full diagnostic output if needed.

Thanks.
