iOS profile not working when NextDNS setup on home router

Here the issue that I can't understand completely.

I have nextdns configured at the router (Asus) using ddns (Profile 1). I have also a couple of "personal" profiles for me (Profile 2) and my partner (profile 3).  I have also profile 4 that is for testing and it allows every traffic.
The profiles 2 and 3 are: for my iphone and tailscale (PC and Nas) (profile 2) while profile 3 on an iphone only. The issues are similar on profiles 2 and 3 on iOS devices. Tailscale via profile 2 is not effected.

What happens, by using the apple configuration profile is the following:

- profile 2 or 3 enable & wifi connected: nextdns can't resolve anything and internet is absent

- profile 2 or 3 enable & wifi off (5g only): nextdns profile 2 or 3 resolves any request - all fine

- profile 2 or 3 disable & wifi connected: nextdns profile 1 is the one resolving and everything is fine

- profile 4 enable % wifi connected: nextdns can't resolve anything and internet is absent

I am no expert but looks like a issue with the apple configuration profile but I can't really understanding more than this and get to root. I need help

    Have you tested with using the NextDNS app instead of the configuration profile?

       Nope, good point actually... I will try! What would be the relationship? 
      I've been using the profile on my iphone for months now and the issue occurred only now

       Good that the app version works but no idea why the configuration profile no longer behaves as expected. Perhaps an update to iOS changed things?

       I need to rectify my reply unfortunately. It doesn't work even with the app.
      It worked a short bit as soon as I arrived at home and connected but stopped working 10 minutes in.

       Ah, right, unfortunate.

      Maybe this is a domain being incorrectly blocked problem. Check your logs around the time it stops working.

       it's all the domains, domains that were working just fine few days ago. The whole iphone can't connect. Same website or services on the windows laptop are reachable (with same profile)

       Somehow now the regular profile works while the app doesn't. I didn't make any change (except selecting the right profile in VPN settings of iOS)

       Strange behaviour.

      It might be an idea to reset the iPhone connection settings and try from default because it looks like it's got itself in a mess somewhere along the line.

       That is a good idea and it has improved the situation. It still has issues occasionally but it's better. I guess my only hope is a ios update that might make this work again
