Nextdns breaking apple continuity (Call handoff)

Nextdns breaking apple continuity (Call handoff), not sure what filters or configurations are breaking this but turning off nextdns fixes the issue.

I had that problem too. Also different functions like tv remote on your Apple device for example won’t also work. You need to allow a bunch of Apple Servers to make everything work seemlessly. Find them here:

You could try using OISD only or HaGeZi Pro only as they're far more forgiving than others in terms of false positives. If that doesn't work you can allow some domains to bypass NextDNS I'm not an iOS users so can't say for sure but it could also be an iOS issue.

Hey I went that route too and these lists you mentioned still blocked something as far as I can remember. Even if you make handoff work… there will be some other small things that will make you as an iOS user crazy.  As I mentioned, I couldn’t use the official iOS tv remote. I went crazy figuring it out. I thought my device is broken or it’s a software bug.  you have to have the idea that some server is getting blocked by your dns…

John Chief Well, I guess it's a weird iOS thing, with OISD I hadn't seen a single app/function break on me from Android 8 to 12. I've heard that you guys have an option to have some of the queries bypass NextDNS as a whole so you could have it so anything problematic could just do their own thing, hopefully it all works out.

Also as a general troubleshooting step that I follow I try with OISD only the without any filters afterwards, that solves basically everything for me and I figure out what went wrong, NextDNS by itself shouldn't cause issues as it's just resolving domains, like any other DNS the same as your ISP/Carrier, so minimizing Blocklist should reduce the risk of issues dramatically.
