Unidentified devices

Hello there,

I have configured almost all devices from my home network but it seems it's not everything configured as it should be. I am receiving a lot of queries from "unidentified devices". I can see my devices on the list but not my Synololgy NAS and Chromecast devices.

How can I identify these two as well? I am also using one profile because everything goes through router.

Also here are some results from testing:

"status": "ok",
"protocol": "DOT",
"anycast": true,
"clientName": "unknown-dot",

    Installing NextDNS CLI got an error message.

    Don't know how to solve this either and don't know if I have curl on my router Asus ax4200. ☹️

       I thought that proxy dns is something similar or will behave like vpn. So basically I will need AdGuardHome and some dns service such as AdGuardDNS or NextDNS?

      I want to have a proper firewall for my home network. Just need a better protection from one side and to configure it just for challenge as other side. As third maybe I will use it as a NAS device as well to upgrade my previous Synology device which is not + (plus) device and it lacks with ram memory.

       A http proxy is kind of similar to a VPN, in that http traffic is passed through the proxy server before the destination. The VPN however redirects all data traffic making it look like you are connected at the VPN server. The DNS proxy in this case is only on your home network and will act much like your router but only for DNS requests.
      Yes you still need a DNS service to connect to, the proxy is just an extra step in between.

      after I will found a N355 hardware I don't know if it's allowed here to open a new topic to configure pfSense with AdguardHome and NextDNS? I am planing to invest on my home network also with a new desktop pc with AMD 9950x for productivity.

       It should be ok to open a new thread, I would think Discussions is the correct category for that.

    Hello again,

    I haven’t had any issues with my NextDNS settings until now, but suddenly these days the Analytics tab stopped loading, and there’s no more information. The problem with Unidentified devices was resolved, and suddenly their percentage started dropping, but since Analytics isn’t working, I can’t see the difference. For other devices, it’s 100%, while for Unidentified devices, it’s currently 54.58%. What happened all of a sudden without me making any changes, I don’t know... Please help. Thanks!

       Hi again.

      How long has Analytics been broken? It seems to work ok for me at the moment.

      Also what are those percentages referring to, you accidentally missed that part out.

      Hello once again, and thank you for joining in to help me once more. Honestly, I'm not exactly sure how long this has been happening; I assume for a few days, but no more than 2 weeks, because I would have noticed it earlier since I log in weekly to check what’s happening on my profile.

      Also, an error appears when reading the Analytics, as shown in the picture: https://i.postimg.cc/dt3QHjtp/Untitled-3.jpg

      These are the values for Unidentified deviceshttps://i.postimg.cc/nzrwbrsW/Screenshot-9.jpg

      If you need more information, feel free to let me know.

       @r_p_m I wrote a reply, but it says Pending Review... we’ll have to wait for the response to appear above... thank you for your understanding.

       Hmm... Maybe you could try trimming the logs a bit by changing, temporarily, the retention period to a lower amount.

      Until the logs issue is cleared, we can't be too sure what else is being displayed (they might be wrong).

       How can I do that? Where can I change the retention period to a lower value? To what value should I change it?

       Last tab on the right, labelled settings. There are a few retention options available to you, just choose the next smallest from your currently set period.

      Then try analytics again, see if error has cleared. If not change the period again and repeat until error has gone. Hopefully it won’t be anywhere near the lowest periods.

       In the last tab, Settings, I changed the Retention from 3 months to 1 month, and then to one week... in the end, nothing changes. Analytics still gives an error. ☹️

       OK, next thing to look at is the browser. Could you try looking at analytics with an alternate browser or with your current browser with all add-ons disabled (safe mode).

       I can confirm that the Analytics tab works now after I disabled uBlock Origin addon.👍 The issue is that I can't pinpoint exactly which filter list is causing the problem. The Analytics tab only works when uBlock Origin is disabled, and most likely, I will need to resolve this through their support.

      Thank you once again for all your help and support.👋🙏

       To help find the filter, with uBlock Origin, you have to open the Logger. Once there just refresh and if anything is blocked it will show up red in the list of things. Filtering the list also helps narrow down what's actually been blocked.

       Thank you once again! 👋🙏
      I managed to find a rule that solves my problem. The Analytics tab now loads successfully after I added this rule:

      @@||nextdns.io^$removeparam=from,domain=nextdns.io
