IOS App Store Not Working

IOS 26.5, iPhone 12.

How to replicate

- Activate NextDNS

- Go onto App Store

- Search for an app (or click any on the home page)

- Click on any app and then go back to search results

- Repeat 9 times

- On the 10th time you click to view an app, it will be blacked out. Then if you go back onto the search results, the app store will no longer load any new results or apps (they will all be blacked out)

I turned off all block lists and privacy/security options when testing. Bug doesnt occur with NextDNS completely disabled.

Reason for report: when Im searching for an app, generally i click many (10+) to find a privacy respecting one, but because of this bug I have to back out the app store and refresh every 10 apps, thus making me lose my position in the search results. It is a pain

I can't see how this could be related to NextDNS. If NextDNS was blocking something it would show up immediately, not after 9 successful views.

P.S. You did not mention how you were connecting to NextDNS (configuration profile, NextDNS app or something else).

      NextDNS 3.2 app

it seems the numbers I listed are not fixed. today when testing the apps black out when i clicked on the 11th app and earlier on it was the 5th app.

Does not happen when I disable nextdns, i have no other VPN/DNS configs.

      I will attach a video

I was not able to reproduce what you are dealing with currently, while using the NextDNS app. I did see a momentary delay on one app details page but it loaded fine after a second and did not get into this blank state for all things in the app store.

This might be dependent on connection stability, how are you connecting to the internet?

P.S. I did look at your video, just to see for myself what happens.

Same issue after updating to iOS 26.5. Every Apple address is not resolved: app store, music, tv, developer and connect apps as well. On WiFi router with NextDNS installed I see a notice “

    Privacy Warning

This network is blocking encrypted DNS traffic.

if I disconnect WiFi I will still have this issue with apple urls until I disable NextDNS config through iOS app. So basically I have to disable it since I’ve been struggling with it for quite some time.

the problem is that it doesn’t repeat every time, the issue is flaky and had it working 50% of the time appx

It could be some blocklists, you have set, getting domains that are required by Apple iOS appearing in them and being blocked as a result.

What privacy blocklists have you selected?

well, I checked the logs and I could not find anything that was blocked NextDNS and relates to Apple.. The thing is that I can’t open any apple domain in Safari as well with this thing on

And again, it’s flaky, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. And so far I only noticed it on iOS, on MacOS it works fine I think

       Is private relay switched off?

Also some of those privacy blocklists have issues. The default NextDNS does have some breakages in it. Fanboy’s annoyance is not really designed to work with DNS blocking (it’s mostly for script blocking via a browser extension) and Lightswitch is rather outdated these days. May I suggest you try using hagezi’s normal list alongside OISD (using both of these is usually a set and forget setup).
