Incorrect Blocking

It isn't the first time it happens. I get a request blocked because of a list, however when I report it to the maintainer he says that his list doesn't block it and it is an issue from the DNS the way it interpret it: "1278313086.rsc.cdn77.org is NOT blocked in liste fr"

For instance, when I manually update iOS AdGuard Pro I see in my NextDNS log that Liste FR is blocking filters.adtidy.org

1278313086.rsc.cdn77.org | Blocked by Liste FR.

    If you add

    filters.adtidy.org

    to your allow list, that should take care of it

      Calvin Hobbes I already did that. However it is just a workaround and it doesn't solved the problem that repeats itself with other domains the way they are interpreted. The source of the issue must be solved by @NextDNS team.

      Pierre Cartier I figure the system is always imperfect and adding entries to the allow list is just something we have to do from time to time.   The available blocklists are frequently updated using a combination of manual and automated systems and there’s going to be things that require user intervention.  This isn’t a set and forget solution.   It requires understanding of how dns operates and the ability to diagnose and solve problems.

      having said that I find my need to make adjustments has gone down over time.   When something doesn’t work, I make a decision…..temporarily turn off blocking or diagnose the problem and fix it.    For one off situations I usually just turn off blocking.   For sites or services I use frequently I’ll spend the time to figure out a solution.

      nextdns isn’t a magic bullet and never will be.   It’s a great tool for those who understand it and are willing to deal with issues that occur.   It’s not for everyone, including my wife, but it’s great for me.

      Calvin Hobbes Reading your answer let me think you didn't take the time to read the links I sent you. The issue isn't related to the list itself but how the DNS, NextDNS here, is interpreting/translating it. Then, the issue should be fixed NextDNS side.

    @NextDNS

    "Obviously whoever converts those adblock filters into DNS filters needs to pay more attention as domains that are listed with additional filtering sintax(third-party...etc) should not be included at all,but instead they made their scripts to remove only the sintax part."

    I have a similar issue with js.media-lab.ai. NextDNS says it is blocked by Lightswitch05 - Ads & Tracking, but js.media-lab.ai is not in that list - https://www.github.developerdan.com/hosts/lists/ads-and-tracking-extended.txt.

    This breaks Imgur.
