Device with profile on router-based DNS network

I searched the community and couldn't find a directly applicable answer to the following.

I'd like to set up a profile for my kid's devices (macOS) and add that profile to the devices. I also currently have NextDNS set up on my router.

Will having two networks affecting my kid's devices cause issues or conflicts? My plan is to have the router DNS configured to a less restrictive setting, with the kid's devices using more strict settings.
