I use NextDNS since the beta and never ever did something got modified by anyone else but me. Usually the problem is on the client end. Maybe your kids know more than you think. Maybe someone else. To be sure activitate Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) in

    https://my.nextdns.io/account

(Don't forget to save the recovery codes)

(Maybe change your email password as well and activate 2FA)

All I can think of is that someone else is having access to your account, it is logged in on a different device or is having access to the same device you are using and you didn't log out.

You can either find out who/what device is logged in, try to contact NextDNS if they can assist you or do a different account and secured it and delete the compromised one. And be sure to secure your device, log out of accounts or use Private browsing and close the tabs when you leave the device.

The thing is that once someone has logged in and the session is kept open it is still has access even if you change the password or activate 2FA.

What NextDNS can do is to have options for "Sign out everywhere"  or "Remove access" and to show details about log in sessions.

remove the old configuration and added a new one, the same problem happens. nobody has touched the configuration. I'm really confused how this could happen.

Griffin Li If you changed your password and enabled 2FA, then it doesn't really make sense as there shouldn't be a ghost tampering with your settings.

Here is a semi ingenius way to test what's going on, I'm still thinking it's your kids and this should give a straight forward response.

Create a new account with the same filters as you put for your normal account. Keep it free if you'd like sicne it's going to be an experiment. Change the kids configuration to the new account, gotta make sure it's not too obvious though. Then you can simply apply the same settings to your main and new account.

      Why do this?

As the main account wouldn't be used by your Kids, it shouldn't have an impact. But if Minecraft/YouTube is gone from the main config, to their disappointment it's going to keep being blocked as they aren't using the said config. On the same time period, the second account not having it's config deleted would show you exactly what you want.

At worst you'll be able to contact the NextDNS team with further evidence. Logically as it's code, it can't just randomly do things on its own but there is always a very slight chance but a chance at the end.

Btw just don't save the password and don't stay logged into that account after initial setup as to reduce the likelihood of that account being easy to access. If one of them is modified and the other isn't, even if the reverse happens for exmaple the new account has the blocked domains removed and the main doesn't. That would still show that whoever is using the said config is the one that's modifying it.

Hey  Thanks. I tried to delete the account and registered a new account with same email , still the configuration is gone after a while. and for testing purpose, I didn't reconfigure my kids computer to use he new ID.  since this is also not working, I just registered a new account with a different email address and see how it goes. by the way, how to contact NextDNS team?

I have created a different account with different email address, the blocked app stays for few days, but it disappeared again after I enabled on kids machine.  my son has no way know my login. really need to know how to contact the official NextDNS support.

Griffin Li Try messaging their account, it makes no sense in terms of code logic but you're saying you made multiple accounts and it's getting deleted after a few days and it's the weirdest thing ever. Let's hope there is some sort of solution to this.
