Frequent lookup errors, queries returning “name not found”
I’ve had a bunch of domain queries failing sporadically, making my devices think the domain doesn’t exist. At first it was some .co.il domains so I thought it was less frequently accessed domains, but it ended up happening for Apple domains too, with App Store sections just not loading sometimes.
I’ve had this happen on different ISPs, devices and networks, cellular and fiber, across DoT and DoH. I suspect the regional cache/POP is throwing these errors, since I didn’t see anyone else complain about this in forums.
Running a check on one device having problems showed it was using the Vultr IL POP, so maybe that one is the problem?
Here’s what my iPhone currently connects to, according to test.nextdns.io:
{
"status": "ok",
"protocol": "DOH",
"profile": "<REDCATED>",
"client": "<REDCATED>",
"srcIP": "<REDCATED>",
"anycast": false,
"server": "anexia-tlv-1",
"clientName": "apple-profile",
"deviceName": "iPhone",
"deviceID": "<REDCATED>",
"deviceModel": "Apple iPhone17,1"
}
