High latency to Cloudflare (200ms+) from Cagayan de Oro, Philippines despite ultralow NextDNS endpoint

Hello NextDNS Support,

I'm experiencing severe latency issues when accessing Cloudflare-hosted content through my NextDNS-configured OpenWRT router.

Issue Details:

  • Direct ISP connection: <20ms to 1.1.1.1
  • Via OpenWRT with NextDNS DoH: >200ms to 1.1.1.1
  • Other services (8.8.8.8, fast.com, speedtest.net): <20ms
  • Location: Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines
  • ISP DNS servers: 103.62.152.70, 8.8.8.8
  • NextDNS endpoint: ultralow (confirmed via ping.nextdns.io)

Impact: Significant delays loading Cloudflare-protected websites (Discord, Reddit, etc.)

Troubleshooting attempted:

  • Verified using ultralow endpoint
  • Tested with ISP DNS - latency normalizes
  • Issue appears isolated to NextDNS→Cloudflare routing

Could you please check if there's a routing/peering issue between NextDNS and Cloudflare's network in the Philippines region? Are there alternative endpoints or configuration changes that might resolve this?

    You ping 1.1.1.1 and it is different with or without NextDNS? In this particular test, you are not even using DNS, how could it have an impact?

       yep you're right, I settled it with my ISP and figured out it was their fault with faulty routing. You can delete this dumb post of mine. Sorry.
