Changing Device Name on iPhone App

Hello. I have installed NextDNS app to my iphone to register my private DNS. 
At home router, my device name is different. But on the app, I enabled "sending device name" but it only sends "iPhone" name. Can I edit it? Because there are a few iPhones at home used by different family members. I want to use custom name on the app. Thanks.

    I believe the "Send Device Name" feature typically sends the device's default name, which is often just "iPhone" or the name you set in Settings > General > About > Name.

       No. It is not that name. In my iPhone menu, my device name is totally different.

       After doing a little research, it seems the NextDNS app on iPhone often defaults to sending the generic device model name, like "iPhone", even with the "sending device name" option enabled. This is likely due to security limitations in how iOS provides the device name to third-party apps, or how the app implements the feature.

       

      As a result, you’re likely going to need to switch to using a NextDNS Configuration Profile instead of the app itself in order to assign a unique, custom name for each of your iOS devices, which will be reflected in your NextDNS logs!

    Before iOS 16(released Sept 2022), that entry displayed the device name as you entered in General > About > name.

    iOS 16 came with new restriction which requires [NextDNS to get an approval from Apple](https://developer.apple.com/documentation/bundleresources/entitlements/com.apple.developer.device-information.user-assigned-device-name) to get the exact device name(or they just get the generic name like iPhone).

       so why they dont get approval from apple?
