NextDNS client is breaking VPN

The NextDNS Windows client is breaking our VPN connections. We use Meraki security appliances and the standard Windows L2TP VPN client to connect. When viewed at the appliance the VPN connection goes up and down randomly.

The client is installed on laptops where the users will access the client VPN. We  have also seen users in offices connected by site to site VPN where they can only access shares on the file server by IP address. They are unable to resolve any inside hosts. 

I will have to remove the NextDNS client from machines - and the whole reason I looked at NextDNS was to have our endpoints protected even when remote.
