NextDNS not working on Windows 11

Are you going to be updating your service to allow connections from Windows 11 machines? I am testing Windows 11 and starting this morning I have not been able to connect.

Here is the error from YogaDNS...

[09.01 15:38:30] DnsCrypt log: Get https://dns.nextdns.io/972764?dns=yv4BAAABAAAAAAABAAACAAEAACkQAAAAAAAAFAAMABCoRifccCApJZcdqNEJCoo5: tls: oversized record received with length 65535

I'm not a developer so this is just guessing but since Windows 11 isn't out yet and there is only the Insider Preview builds, anything could change anytime so they would probably fix the problem, if it's on their side when the full release is made and you should also try it with their own client and see if that works could just be a YogaDNS and Windows 11 issue

Can you please try installing our app instead of yoga? It should automatically use the built-in DoH support of Windows 11.

But you can set nextdns to in your internet router. Then connecting internet from your internet router. Then your computer will be used nextdns from your internet router.

I installed the NextDNS app on Windows 11 Home (build: 22000.176 co_release). Not using yoga.

Installer ran without issue and created a desktop icon. Clicking the icon resulted in "program not responding" and app hangs.

Clicking NextDNS in the Start menu worked and loaded the tray icon. Right click tray icon and "Enable" doesn't appear to do anything, settings screen always says Disconnected. However, the app is running in Task Manager and my activity is tracking in the logs including device name.

NextDNS yes, also tried re-installing with no luck. However, this morning I installed the app on a different Windows 11 machine and it worked flawlessly. So I think the issue is on my end.

Maybe use NextDNS via the native encrypted DNS support in Windows 11?

Rob Thanks for the suggestion, Rob. But I have NextDNS set on my Asus router and use DoH in Firefox so I'm all set.  I might try the native support once Win 11 gets to final release candidate.

I've been beta testing Win 11 for a few months but hadn't tried the NextDNS app until yesterday. Thought this might provide useful feedback.

@rob I switched to the beta channel of the NextDNS app and now it's working just as before.

I installed nextDNS on Windows 11 today.  Clicking on the icon gets me "program not responding."  The product seems to be working as my adblock extension in Chrome is displaying much lower numbers on sites.  I tried reinstalling with no help. Of course, my ipconfig contains nextDNS servers.

I don't know about the rest but the adblock extension it's before DNS, not after.

Browser (or any other app) –> Extensions –> Firewall (including AdGuard, Blokada, Netguard etc.) –> DNS

kenneth frantzen  The adblock extension looks at incoming urls. It has no idea abut ads until they come in. DNS deletes the ads!
