Private DNS option failing on Pixel phones

I initially thought the issue was with one phone as per here: https://help.nextdns.io/t/m1yzhtf

I have now found it occurs on 2 phones running Android 14 (a Pixel 6a and 7A).

They have been working fine for well over 12 months each but recently the toggle has moved from "private DNS" to "Automatic" and will not allow me to revert it back (clicking "save" moves the toggle back to "Automatic".)

I noticed also complaints that Google play has removed NextDNS from the playstore. Is it related to this?

My workaround currently is to use up the VPN slot to do DNS over HTTPS but this is not a long term fix.

Is there a known issue or anything I can do to help narrow it down?

Thanks.

Rich.

Do other Private DNS address like `dns.google` or `one.one.one.one` works?

Just tried 1dot1dot and get the same result, not sure whether it is a bug on these phones? Still working fine on an Samsung S21 and iPhone 14?

Yep, then they're the bug in the recent updates. Complain to the vendor, it's outside NextDNS control.

I have a Pixel 7a and I have been running NextDNS app on my phone for 6 months or so without issue. The last few days, the Outlook app on my P7a will not receive new emails unless I disable the NextDNS app while outside of my home network or disable Wi-Fi on my phone when outside of my home network. I have been scanning through my ND logs trying to see what is being blocked, but nothing is coming up.

In short, my Pixel 7a will not check for email while using the ND app on phone or while I am connected to my home wireless network (which is running ND locally as the DNS server).
