Why does NextDNS keep choosing highest latency server?

Here's my ping results: https://imgur.com/4n20OET

Here's what it chooses: https://imgur.com/iMyy7Gm

It always chooses the server Vultr, even though the one from Zurich would be best

How are you connecting to NextDNS? I see your diag shows UDP for the protocol, so is there a reason you are not using DoH or DoT?

Hello; it's configured at router level, for the whole house. That's the only configuration it takes.

It should still ideally chose a server on the same continent, seeing as how there are a lot available.

@NextDNS should take a look at this because you are right, it's not normal to send to Miami from Switzerland.

From your side if it's possible you should use encrypted DNS  and you would not have this issue anymore as it would connect you to the ultralow servers and this ones don't have so many routing issues compared to anycast.

https://router.nextdns.io/?limit=10&stack=dual lets you find all the local Points-Of-Presence of NextDNS. @Chun2 I also highly reccommend to have all your DNS traffic encrypted.
