4 Yr Paid user - Poor support - move to AdGuard?

I have been a paid user of this service for 4 years now and a heavy user. Never had much issue but have seen the user support degrade drastically over the years, with practically no attention from the team and user queries and posts going unanwered for weeks and more.

Latest, one query I posted over at 'Bugs' has went unanswered for days. Its just frustrating.

I am now seriously contemplating switchin over to AdGuard. It seems to have all of features.

Does anyone know what is missing over at AdGuard as compared to NextDNS?

I find it insane that we have to use a community forum when we pay for this product. We should get actual agent support when we pay.

I have been trying AdGuard as well as AdGuard Home (their self-hosted DNS proxy server). AdGuard Home (AGH) is much better in terms of UI and options available, but of course requires a machine to host it either at home or on the cloud.
I am also trying ControlD, and they are miles ahead in terms of UI, options, and support which is amazing.

how do the speeds of Control D and Adguard compare to NextDNS?

I'm also currently two weeks into the month trial that Control D offers. Control D does have some nice features--many quality of life improvements that are subtle, but make management easier. That said, I've been a long-time paid user of NextDNS and I would love to see them make a turnaround. I'm not here to sell Control D.

In terms of support, I have had some interactions with Control D's support, including direct interactions with the owner/CEO. I'll just say that the only thing worse than silent support (NextDNS) is support that responds, but lies to you and/or is demeaning (my experience with Control D thus far).

@Rikkert I have found Control D speeds to be generally within  +/-3ms of NextDNS times on average. In theory, Control D is supposed to be faster, but in my testing it's about on-par with NextDNS.

I can't say I ever bothered to check NextDNS speeds but neither I nor any family members ever noticed any issues with speed.
I am looking at ControlD's status page and I am getting about 25ms to their servers.

I'm like you, not selling anything, but I am vocal online about services that work for me and those that don't.
NextDNS stopped working for me the minute I found one of their features is broken (Facebook blocking), and support is non-existent.

With ControlD, I have been interacting with their support on an unrelated issue and the agent has been so helpful it's hard to compare it to most other support interactions in tech.
The CEO has a strong personality :) I can't say I've seen him lie, maybe your experience was different.

I would love for NextDNS to have been fully functional and responsive, as I too have used them for several years, but can't in good conscience stay with them any longer. I am very glad there is healthy competition out there (AdGuard DNS isn't too bad either).

Right on! I hear you about healthy competition and I very much appreciate that as well. I want NextDNS to get their act together and keep a good thing going. It's just sad to see all the new people here on this help site trying to get up and going and very little help given. It's not a good look.

Anyway, take care and may low DNS latency be with you, wherever you are! 🤓
