Would it be possible to use it on rooted Android devices without the app?

Android has dnsmasq by default, Can't we use it for NextDNS?

NextDNS would work on a rooted Android device, either via the Private DNS setting or another method.

We currently don't have a way to use nextDNS on android. PrivateDNS doesn't work on some carriers (please see my other post),  Linked IP wouldn't be feasible on mobile phones as IPs always change. The nextDNS app has been pulled from the playstore and has recieved it's last update in 2021.

DoH apps like Intra and Nebulo can load NextDNS DoH address.
