Query limit "reached" while out of town for a month
I was out of the country for 30 days from 9/15-10/15. On 10/18 I received the "You have exceeded your free monthly quota" email. All electronic devices using the internet were shut down while I was gone. There was not one device connected to the internet in my absence. The monthly allowance resets on the 1st of each month. So, there is absolutely NO WAY that I used up the "free monthly quota" on 10/18.
This leads me to believe, that the whole monthly quota thing is fake, and no matter what, they won't give you the entire month free, to entice you into paying.
Prove me wrong.

If you've configured NextDNS at the router or modem level (and haven’t turned it off while you were away), then it’s quite likely that your DNS query usage is accurate.
For instance, I use a TP-Link router with DNS set directly on the router. In this setup, the router pings TP-Link servers every minute using the NextDNS configuration to check for internet connectivity. Each of these pings generates a DNS query, which counts toward your monthly quota.
Also, note that you'll receive a usage alert once you reach 200,000 queries — not only when you hit the full 300,000 free quota.
If you suspect any discrepancy in the usage count, check the NextDNS logs. They provide detailed insights into which devices or services are generating queries, and can help you investigate any inconsistencies.
I’ve been using NextDNS for years on the free plan, and in my experience, the free quota count has always been accurate.
