Nothing works since iOS update

Hi. I just installed the new iOS update on my iPad and everything that worked previously stopped working. This includes not only games, but Slack and other groups. I thought it might be my custom settings so I turned them off. I get the same results. Please help. Any suggestions?

What version of iOS are you on?

Can you try turning off "Use Ultra-Low Latency Network" at the bottom of the Settings inside the app?

I’m on 14.3. Turning off the low latency seems to have fixed it. Thanks!

Donny Yankellow There's a short thread on Reddit about this, looks like it may be helpful to restart your device after turning on ultra-low if you wanted to try to get ultra-low working.

Donny Yankellow Your network is probably blocking dns.nextdns.io.

Donny Yankellow Could you disable NextDNS (turn off the big blue switch inside the app) and then try to open http://dns.nextdns.io inside Safari note the http:// not https://)? What does it say?

Yeah, it’s blocked. I’ll have to get into the router and whitelist it.

Donny Yankellow What's blocking it on your router? Could you share a screenshot of the blockpage (if there is one)?

This is what I get on my Mac. On my iPad it is different, just says Safari can't access the site.

I think I have open DNS one my router that is blocking it. But everything worked fine before the update.

Donny Yankellow OpenDNS is blocking or filtering DNS record type 65 in some cases, I believe the new ultra-low uses the HTTPS record (type 65) to aid in connection, so maybe that's part of the issue. (I am not NextDNS, so Olivier or Romain may need to confirm that!) That may be why it works after you disable ultra-low, and why it worked before the upgrade using anycast which doesn't rely on DNS.

Chris Leidich thanks, that would make sense if correct, we will just use it without ultra low if need be

Donny Yankellow unlink anycast, ultralow is not resilient to DNS blocking. You can thus either disable OpenDNS' circumvention prevention or disable ultralow.
