“This device is using NextDNS with another profile” after “nextdns stop”

On Ubuntu 22.04 I get the message “This device is using NextDNS with another profile” after “nextdns stop”. 
 

The same happens when using a VPN except the DNS address  (according to ipleak.net) is now 45.142.244.191 Misaka Network Inc. 
 

Any ideas as to what to going on?
