NextDNS gone from play store?

Just tried to reinstall the app  ( having issues with the adguard app) and noticed it's not there...    Anyone have any idea what's going on?

No ideea what is going on, but you can find the app outside the store (apkmirror, apkpure, apkcombo .com).

If you use the AdGuard app on a non root device it is running through a VPN, same as the NextDNS app and you can't run 2 VPN's at the same time. You can add NextDNS in AdGuard, DoH, DoT and DoQ. (I have a post about this)

Yeah I had the adguard app which I prefer because of quic and DoH3 options but it wasn't  working very well which I think might have been something related to the SKY broadband in the UK but wasn't sure, so I wanted to try with the official nextdns  app and it wasn't there. Totally understand where to get the apk from outside play store, I just wondered if people knew why it had gone...

I also have rethink, infra and tailscale installed so not short of options but thanks for answering thoroughly!

Maybe it's the beginning of the end. They're withdrawing support for older Android devices. Alternatives to NextDNS?

the withdrawal of support for older devices might  be due to google trying to drop support due to the security issues? Not sure. Maybe its down to them not renewing something on the play store? Adguard-DNS and Rethink DNS are the obvious alternatives. The thing I would miss the most is Tailscale integration.

Why bother? Android's PrivateDNS-setting makes the app unnecessary

I only wanted the app for testing something because adguard app wasn't working. There are good reasons for using an app like adguard or rethink over the built in DoT option such as DoQ, DoH3, ability to whitelist apps that don't play well with NextDNS, and much easier to temporarily pause the connection if there are issues

I have four Android devices in use. Two of them don't have the Private DNS option in their settings.

If you can't use Private DNS because your ISP block port 853, just install Intra and use the DoH address.

yep as I said in other replies I know how to use other apps, I was using the adguard app with DoH3, had an issue with it, wanted to test the NextDNS app found it wasn't there, and wondered why

It has been removed from the usage instructions as well, I don't know how we will continue to use NextDNS anymore.

Yes go toadgard.com and hit products, choose DNS then " try for free" then download the .APK file.
