NextDNS down

Is NextDNS currently down?

My Merlin router stopped resolving (with NextDNS app) and when I try to ping dns.nextdns.io it only says "bad address" and doesn't ping.

 

I tried a down detector website and it confirms dns.nextdns.io is not reachable.

    Nevermind. Following the Facebook services blackout, my internet operator here in Portugal just blacked out also. Everything.

      Maghuro Yeah 160k reports about Facebook being down, so something broke on their and your ISPs end and it's not a bother I was just checking the website at the time you posted it.

    It was a coincidence.

    Facebook is down, and at the same time my whole ISP went down. I just checked with customer service.

      Maghuro It's just hitting my ISP now, barely any site works, doesn't resolve anything even when NextDNS is off. A worldwide outage probably lol dang.

      Maghuro My ISPs DNS is down at the moment so changing the DNS to NextDNS on the router fixed my Internet lol. I didn't bother changing it on the router since I had to link and use DDNS etc. I guess when a company focuses on DNS it just works while your ISPs DNS decides to take the easy way out by not functioning.

      Rob we got a 30%+ increase in traffic but no PoP suffered from it. We are provisioned to absorb bigger traffic surges than that.

      NextDNS I was only posting a possible reason why the IPS (DNS) went down, but I have to admit that I was curious how NextDNS did (AdGuard DNS had issues). Nice that you could cope with that increase (and have room for more)!

      Rob Yea, it's amazing how their network wasn't impacted. My ISPs DNS was down completely for hours and changing it on my router fixed my connection. Also a quick tip for anyone, don't edit a post too much or your account gets locked / gets in for reviewing.

      So while half of the internet went down, people using NextDNS was just fine with Adblokcing and everything working

      Rob AdGuard issue wasn't about capacity but lack of negative caching. It is surprising they did not have such issue before to be honest :)

      Yeah, Adguard went down for me for about 30 mins yesterday around noon

    It's not working here either...
    I returned my router settings to my ISP's DNS servers and it's normal...
    Later I will reconfigure NextDNS and test again.
    I believe Facebook's BGP issue has affected NextDNS operations in some way.
