"Block Bypass Methods" No longer working
Hey,
I have YouTube access restricted on my home network, and I also enabled the option to block bypass methods because my kids discovered they could use VPNs to get around the restriction. This setup has always worked as expected.
Recently, however, they have been able to access YouTube while connected to a VPN, even though the "Block Bypass Methods" option is still enabled under Parental Controls.
I'm not sure whether VPN technology has changed or if there's another reason why NextDNS is no longer enforcing the restriction in this case.
Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

VPNs have always defeated NextDNS. The answer is to block all VPNs at the device level. I've done it for iPhones and iPads (see: childofgodphone.com) I've also done it on Windows. (see Telpax.com) David

Yeah, I was testing this out and its true. "Block VPN method" is not working for this custom dns filter. I believe what is mentioning is using device administrators to provision the device. I know a few other options for locking down devices if anyone is looking for other alternatives from what David mentioned.

As mentioned, anyone with a Mac can supervise an iPhone or iPad. Modify the special configuration profile that Nextel’s provides, and you have a real winner!
