Apple AirPlay 'unable to connect to' error on iOS 14

I've installed the current NextDNS iOS app and all is working fine except for AirPlay. I've been trying to connect to my Sonos speakers using iOS 14. The iPhone does see the speakers so that's a start. The error returned is AirPlay error "Unable to connect to".

Anyone an idea on how I should troubleshoot this issue? Or is it a known issue?

    I don't know why but issue seems resolved after leaving the house and returning.
