NextDNS not working on iOS 15.5

I updated my iPhone 13 mini to iOS 15.5 over the past weekend and since then, NextDNS has stopped working. I do not have (and never have had) iCloud Private Relay enabled. I am using a custom configuration via the NextDNS iOS app that I have been using for years. My nextdns.io/logs page shows no blocked queries for my iPhone since Saturday night (when I ran the iOS update). I have an iPad Pro that is using the same NextDNS configuration (again via the app) but it is still running iPadOS 15.4.1 and NextDNS IS working fine. I am not seeing any ads on my iPad and the NextDNS log is showing all the blocked queries that I would expect for the iPad.

I’ve seen the other thread about the problem with macOS and the apparent solution was that NextDNS fixed their certificate but I don’t think that’s fixed the issue here with iOS 15.5.

To troubleshoot I completely uninstalled the iOS app, reset my Wi-Fi and network settings, and rebooted my phone.

Any other recommendations on how to fix this? I would really like to keep using the app because 1) it’s the recommended way to configure based on the text on the NextDNS website and 2) it’s the easiest to disable when I need to work around an issue. Is this something that NextDNS can fix or do I need to wait for Apple to fix whatever they broke in iOS 15.5?

Please let me know what additional information you need from me.

No thoughts or assistance here? NextDNS is still completely broken on iOS 15.5.

Same issue here. NextDNS stopped blocking queries on all my devices (macOS 12.4, iPadOS 15.5 and iOS 15.5). It doesn't matter if I use the app or the profile. The configuration page is showing that I'm using NextDNS, but no ads are filtered and nothing shows up in the logs.

NextDNS Second sentence in my original post…

“I do not have (and never have had) iCloud Private Relay enabled.”

You can ignore this bug report. I canceled my NextDNS subscription last night and won’t be returning. This by-the-script reply seems to solidify that my decision was a good one.

Can this maybe related to the same issue with other adblockers?

There are also strange behaviors with PiHole when using Safari or Mail on macOS 12.4 and iOS 15.5. I only want to report this here because I think NextDNS should also be aware of this. Looks like this issue is related to additional privacy changes from Apple in their Operating Systems.

Works fine for me in iOS 15.5, with or without Private Relay, just like before.

Chris I started today testing NextDNS and found out that the block page must be disabled. Otherwise  ads are not blocked on specific sites.

Johannes Strasser Yeah, that was mentioned by the team before, I wish they would put this in a help page somewhere, instead of comments that are hard to search for.
