HP Smart login and scan functions blocked

Hello

When using nextdns I can not login to the HP Smart app (windows and phones). and because of that can not use the scan function.

I think it is because of track blocklists, but I have no idea what to allow from HP, i tried allowing *.hpsmart.com and *.hp.com, but no succes.

Anyone with the same problem and know how to fix it?

Found out that it is www.googletagmanager.com that i should allow to make HP work. ofc that is a big problem. Any way to allow tagmanager only in HP Smart?

Rick Schmitz Sorry I don't use HP.
HP smart is the an app, right? So the app must contact HP servers rather than making a local connection over WLAN to the printer itself!? Wow. Devices and the so called smart apps these days are something else.

At first I thought HP Smart was a printer. In which case I was going to suggest to use a nextdns profile just for it.

It is is an app then I guess it would take a profile for your phone in which you would allow googletagmanager. I don't think there is a way to do that. per app. Maybe the nextdns app can do that ??

      A Tinkerer's Solution

If you use android, you could use RethinkDNS  which would allow you to use nextdns are your DoH/DoT DNS. The app features a firewall which you can use to allow said domain for just HP Smart app. The app also allows for the installation of blocklists. If you are a tinkerer, between nextdns and RethinkDNS, you could get the right setup for your phone working. Tip, only allow blocklist at one end, either nextdns or within the app. All other nextdns features should be ok.

Note:  The app is on its early stages but it is stable enough for daily use.

The post is being reviewed by mods. At least I get such message when trying to report a bug. I can't start a new thread till the moderators review my reply to you.  I made a recommendation on how to accomplish what you want to achieve but this requires an open source app which I recommended.  Let us see how the whole thing goes.

I've seen other threads talking about third party apps supporting/not supporting nextdns. I figured that I could recommend an open source app that you can setup with nextdns and perhaps solve the issue/get the setup that you want.

Anyways, I really hope that the whole things clears out soon. I really would like to be able to report a bug.
