Device appears twice
Hi!
I wrote to NextDNS support mail but I had an automatic answer. One my devices appears twice in the Devices' list (iPhone + iPhone's name). I was wondering if this means that requests are counted twice? I tried to modify the setting but this deactivated NextDNS.
Thanks in advance for the help!

Requests are never counted twice, it is actually the opposite, we dedup requests on the same domain with different query types to stay fair.
Duplicate device names can happen when a device is reaching us through different types of configuration, like our app vs profile vs CLI on a router. When you have CLI on a router, it may also happen when the same device reaches the same router via WiFi and Ethernet for instance.

Thanks for your quick answer!
If I understand well, the requests are correct for the same device but the kind of connexions are indicated differently? For instance, it appears as iPhone when connected to Wi-Fi and as Phone-name when connected to 4G?

Thanks! This is the feeling I had. I have the app installed in my phone but I am not sure how to check if I activated the profile by mistake. Could I ask you if you could tell me how to check? Sorry for that! Thanks, Camille

Hi! Sorry for the delay!
NextDNS is activated in General-DNS. I guess that it’s the reason why it sends requests twice. Should I select « Automatic »? Thanks again for all the help! Best, Camille

Thanks for your message.
They are both in black and now my laptop is also appearing twice. I guess I did something wrong and did not properly configure it at the beginning. Maybe should I uninstall all and install it again from scratch?
Thanks again for your kind help!

I could also see that the values of the queries are different depending on if I check the Analytics on the webpage or the amount of queries in my account (both screen captures were taken the same day at the same moment)... Is this normal?
If it's really to hard to fix and that I reach the maximum I will pay but I just would like to understand and I thought that maybe other users would experience the same problem...
Thanks once again for your help!

PS. I just thought that maybe the problem could come from the fact that I also have NextDNS installed on Tailscale. Could the fact that the devices appear twice have to do with when I connect through Tailscale? Then, should I disable NextDNS on the device while I connect to Tailscale? Or should I disable it in Tailscale since all my connections are made through NextDNS anyway?
Could this be?
Thanks again for all your help!
