(Win10) NextDNS app losing control of DNS settings

Greetings.

My computer is always on, and the NextDNS app is losing control of the custom DNS settings after some hours. I have managed to work around this by creating a scheduled task that kills both NextDNS and the service, then restarts them, and everything seems to be ok. Problem is, tskill is killing my fullscreen experience, so it's a painful workaround, because I keep getting interrupted every once in a while.

When I say that the app is losing the DNS settings, I mean that the Setup webpage says I am using a different DNS server, that of my ISP.

I tried running the scheduled task under SYSTEM, so it doesn't interfere with anything I do and there's no tskill window popping up for a microsecond, but it doesn't work, my ISP's DNS servers remain active and NextDNS does not reapply the custom profile.

Any hints or tricks I could try? Any advice would be lovely.

Thank you in advance.

Update: even the damn Task Scheduler workaround doesn't work all the time, currently I am using my ISP DNS, and the task has been run, and the app and service has been restarted.

Is there a command to Enable and Disable the app, because that seems to fix the issue. Like some params after launch? /start /stop /enable /disable etc?

Looking for some advice, because this is getting frustrating.

Many users in this community recommend YogaDNS client for Windows.   I’m not a Windows user, so I have no experience with it https://yogadns.com/

For NEXTDNS in any platform android , iOS , Linux , Windows ( For Windows Download )

i suggest You to use TAILSCALE ( use free account ) upon registration go to DNS section of TAILSCALE in web interface and select Global NAMESERVER as NextDNS and enter ID . enable OVER RIDE LOCAL DNS .

read instructions in TAILSCALE + NextDNS . ( its a general purpose to enterprise use network solution provider . so go for it . even you can do more with it

You have another options too . why Not Make Your own dns server and forward all through NEXTDNS . . that way you can have all control in your hand . Just download Technitium DNS for windows and for DNS resolver , DHCP setup and place forwarder as Nextdns . read Technitium DNS documentation . instead NEXTDNS or ISP dns You are controlling all DNS stuff at your home . thats more privacy oriented
