the apple config dns profile generator doesn't work

i tried to download a apple dns config profile at apple.nextdns.io but it doesn't work since a month now

i dont know what the issue is, only know the error code what the apple tv gives 

 

the profile (-1004) cant be installed check the url and try it again

    That isn't the right way to install a profile unfortunately.  I wish it was that easy.  

    You will need to use a computer to generate the file and host it for the Apple TV.  For my Apple TV, I generated the profile and then used my routers built-in HTTP server.  So the URL I entered on that screen was "192.168.0.1/atv.mobileconfig".  

    You can download a simple, self-contained HTTP server program and use your computer to host the file. A quick search and I found HTTP File Server here https://www.rejetto.com/hfs/. I just found this program and am not affiliated with them in anyway.

    Download and run it, then drag and drop the .mobileconfig file into the "Virtual File System" section.  Then on the Apple TV enter whatever the address bar in HFS shows ("http://192.168.0.209/NextDNS (xxx).mobileconfig" in my case).  Follow the steps to install the profile on Apple TV.  

     

    EDIT: You can also connect the Apple TV with a USB cable to your computer and install the profile that way. There are model-specific instructions here https://support.apple.com/HT202577

      Taylor woah, but the weird thing it worked before when i uploaded the profile to discord and downloaded the file with their cdn..

      This procedure worked for me (I tested it before I suggested it).  You have some other unknown issue I cannot help with.  You may have a firewall issue on the PC that is blocking the incoming connection attempt.  Or there could be a configuration issue on the Apple TV or router.  You could factory reset them and try again.  

      Try the direct USB cable method.  That method would have the best chance for success.

      I have used apple.nextdns.io only in Safari on iPhone and iPad--never from Apple TV. There is no way to enter the NextDNS ID in the Apple TV interface. You have to give the Apple TV the full path to the already generated file if using this install method.

      Taylor apple tv 4k doesn’t have the cable usbc option, and the atv can read apple profile’s

    I’ve created and used plenty of profiles from the site—this isn’t a NextDNS issue I hate to say. 
     

    I actually made a redirect to make this easier and made a post about it. At that screen you can enter “dns.infolux.net/your-id-here” and it will redirect to the API and generate a profile for you. https://help.nextdns.io/t/35hncsv/apple-tv-and-profiles-an-easy-install
