Best Implementation for Apple Devices
I see the configuration profile is recommended by NextDNS with the official app as the secondary option when using NextDNS on Apple devices. In my experience, setting any kind of custom DNS on Apple devices yields a fairly inconsistent experience that can briefly drop connections at random. I do not experience this while not using a custom DNS and have tried other providers other than NextDNS. The inconsistency and dropped connections has been happening for months and I have tried the config profile, NextDNS app, and AdGuard's VPN implementation both with and without bootstrap, to implement NextDNS (also occurs on cellular, home internet, other wifi, etc.).
Does anyone know what the best implementation of NextDNS is on Apple devices, specially for stability?
I don't think NextDNS is at fault here, there can just be weird OS level nuances that could lead to a more stable experience with certain implementations. Thanks in advance.

I've been using the app on my devices for 2 years now and it's working wonderfully. The only times I have issues is if some component is on a blocklist and the app I'm using won't handle it gracefully.
With iCloud Private Relay, the DNS is initially retrieved using NextDNS, and then the Private Relay does a secondary DNS lookup. If the first (NextDNS) lookup fails, Private Relay won't load the resource.
I am only using the "NextDNS Ads & Trackers" Blocklist.
