Customer management

Hello,

I'd like to set up nextdns for several customers. I would especially like to be able to add manual DNS blocks. Can we do it for all profiles at once or should we do it one by one?

The only way to do that at the moment is to setup the manual list first in one profile, then simply copy the settings to a new profile multiple times for however many you need.

If profiles already exist then it can only be done one by one as you say.

First of all, I want to be clear that I am not affiliated with NextDNS.

That said, I am working on developing a tool for bulk managing allow and deny lists for multiple profiles on a given NextDNS account. The concept is that you can select 1..N profiles from your account and see which domains are common between the allow and deny lists for all selected profiles. Then adding or removing a domain entry from the "common" allow or deny list would then be propagated to each selected profile.

I have a working prototype, but I'm still actively developing it in my spare time. It's not my day job and I'm not getting paid, so it's a best-effort ordeal at this point. 😊

When it's ready, I'll be putting it on Github for the community. It's based on learnings and desires from my last five years with NextDNS. Hopefully it will help others as well.

Very interesting! NextDNS should fund the dev :)

By the way, the Nextdns project is still in dev? I read on Reddit that there's been no communication for some time now.

Looking forward to seeing the project ;)
