Inquiry regarding unlinking IP and custom profile application

Dear NextDNS Team,

I am a user of your service  and I have two questions regarding IP linking:

1. How can I completely unlink/unbind a previously linked IP address? I have manually linked my server's IP in the "Setup" tab. Besides removing it from the dashboard, are there any other settings or commands (specifically for the NextDNS CLI) that I should adjust to ensure the IP is no longer associated with my profile?

2. Do my custom filtering policies still apply after an IP is linked? If I link my IP address but also use encrypted protocols like DoH via the NextDNS CLI, how does the system prioritize identification? Specifically, will my custom blocklists and security settings still function correctly for that IP even if the device name is not explicitly sent?

Thank you for your time and assistance.

Best regards,

Read the Knowledge Base and search the forum.

On short it doesn't matter what IP is linked if you don't need it or use it. You can use a VPN and link it, or use the mobile network and link it. Once you use encrypted DNS that linked IP doesn't matter and will not affect you with anything, it is only needed for ipv4 which is better to be avoided.

All the settings are linked with the configuration / profile and it applies no matter what protocol you use. For different settings create and use another configuration / profile.

The device name is only for your convenience, to be able to see what device is making what calls in logs and analytics, the NextDNS is looking only at the configuration ID embedded in the ipv6, DoH, DoT or DoQ.
