Cannot upgrade 1.8.6 on MacOS via terminal

Successfully installed NextDNS via MacOS terminal many months ago.

I would like to upgrade NextDNS 1.8.6 to 1.9.6. Every time I try to upgrade, the terminal continues to return these options every time I press "u". I also cannot remove NextDNS (by pressing "r"). Perhaps the commands are ignored?

This is what I see after running the command

sudo sh -c "$(curl -sL https://nextdns.io/install)"
u) Upgrade NextDNS from 1.8.6 to 1.9.6
c) Configure NextDNS
r) Remove NextDNS
e) Exit

I am running BigSur. Can NextDNS not be updated via Terminal?

Olivier Poitrey I have restarted my Macbook and attempted to remove 1.8.6 again using the command line and sudo. I press "r" and enter. The prompt menu keeps displaying and no uninstall appears to occur.

Also make sure Xcode command line tools have been updated if Big Sur was an update from Catalina

Calvin Hobbes I have completed this task and now see this error when I attempt to perform any command:

Error: Running Homebrew as root is extremely dangerous and no longer supported.

As Homebrew does not drop privileges on installation you would be giving all

build scripts full access to your system.

CobaltInigma is your Homebrew installation up to date?

You didn’t show the command you used, but it shouldn’t be run as root nor run with sudo.

Calvin Hobbes Thanks so much. I was running the command with sudo as it didn't seem to run when I didn't. Code is below:

      sudo sh -c "$(curl -sL https://nextdns.io/install)"
      u) Upgrade NextDNS from 1.8.6 to 1.9.6
      c) Configure NextDNS
      r) Remove NextDNS
      e) Exit

I have successfully removed NextDNS and reinstalled after updating Xcode command line tools. Thanks!
