Android needs update to the NextDNS app.

Android needs an update to the NextDNS app so I can get analytics on my phone. Currently the app says I can't download as it was made for an older version.

Are you not able to change your Private DNS settings in Android? If you're able to enter NextDNS' TLS URL there, you can get start getting analytics on your phone usage.

I did enter the Private DNS Settings but on the Next DNS logs it shows my phone as Unidentified. However a temp solution was to input the DNS over HTTPS for my phone browser and then at the end of my ID I put /E which then would show my phone as E on the logs when using that browser. Still better to have the app to use IMO.

You can also attach IDs to the TLS URL. I believe they are prefixed, so if you wanted the name "Pixel 6" for your phone, you create the URL as such: Pixel--6-<profileID>.dns.nextdns.io

double dashes is how you make spaces, and a single dash indicates the name is done and it's expecting the profile ID.

      Hope this helps!

Thanks for this, I am able to use NextDNS on Android without the App using Private DNS settings.

    But...

How do I link an Android phone to a NextDNS profile without the Android App?

In the dashboard use the DNS-over-TLS/QUIC that looks like a1b2c3.dns.nextdns.io

Ah, I see, each profile has a unique URL. Thanks :)
