NextDNS isn't working at all on iOS (.mobileconfig)

Hi everyone,

I'm experiencing a strange issue with NextDNS on my iPhone using the .mobileconfig profile.

What's happening

  • Google, YouTube, Instagram, and even test.nextdns.io don't work while the profile is active.
  • The Logs page remains completely empty, even though logging is enabled.
  • I have enabled both:
    • Enable Logs
    • Log domains
  • My Configuration ID is correct and matches the profile.
  • I disabled all blocklists (NextDNS Ads, AdGuard DNS, OISD, AdGuard Mobile Ads, HaGeZi, etc.), but nothing changed. The behavior is exactly the same.
  • Changing settings in the dashboard appears to have no effect at all.

The weird part

If I temporarily switch my DNS back to Automatic, open an app like YouTube or Instagram, and then switch back to the NextDNS profile, those apps continue to work normally for a while, even after I close and reopen them.

However, this does not happen in Safari. Websites such as test.nextdns.io still fail to load immediately after switching back to the NextDNS profile.

This behavior makes me think there may be some kind of caching issue or that the profile is not behaving as expected, but I'm not sure.

What I've already checked

  • iPhone using the .mobileconfig profile.
  • Configuration ID matches the dashboard.
  • Logging is enabled.
  • Multiple blocklists tested.
  • All blocklists disabled.
  • Security settings tested.
  • No logs are generated under any circumstances.

Has anyone experienced something similar or knows what could cause this?
