Added DNS servers, nothing seems blocked

I'm a total beginner with this. Running Mac OS X 10.14.6. I've added 45.90.28.51 and 45.90.30.51 to the DNS list in System Preferences; no other DNS server is listed. I'm checking with https://d3ward.github.io/toolz/adblock.html and https://canyoublockit.com/ and as far as I can see, nothing has changed after pointing my machine's DNS servers to these NextDNS ones. What am I doing wrong?

You also need to Link your IP, but instead of going that route, you can use the Configuration Profile option if you can upgrade to Big Sur / 11.0+ or use their App from the Apple Store.

It should also work fine with linking your IP but you'd need to link it if you go to work or if your IP changes, the apps or profiles don't require anything like that.

If you can't upgrade or install the apps for DoH, you could try using the IPv6 endpoints shown in your NextDNS setup tab instead of the IPv4 IPs. The IPv6 endpoints include your configuration ID, which means that you won't have to link your IP address (as is the case with IPv4). I don't know if IPv6 endpoints in system preferences work in macOS 10, but they do for me in macOS 12.
