Cannot connect to public wifi even with nextdns disabled

Hi,

On IPadOS, cannot login to multiple public wifi networks (hotels /airports etc.) even when Nextdns is disabled. I have to go to settings/general/VPN/DNS and switch to auto for the public wifi login page to load. Setting Nextdns On or Off has no effect from the app.

Are you using the NextDNS app, or do you have NextDNS servers configured manually on your device? Is there another VPN app used on your iPad?

I had the same issue.  I had to delete the Profile in order to utilize hotel WiFi.

I'm wondering if "DNS Rebinding Protection" being turned ON is causing this problem.  I'm tempted to turn it off and go to a local hotel here and see if it will start to work.  This setting is found under the Security tab on the NextDNS settings website interface.

Jack M it might be as it would probably prevent rediracting to a captive portal located on a local IP.
