Netflix thinks I'm not in the US when using NextDNS

While connected to NextDNS, Netflix thinks I'm not in the US and I can't see titles I normally see. This happened about 2 days ago. I used to be able to use Netflix in the US just fine with NextDNS. Disabling NextDNS lets me use Netflix normally. Are there any new changes from NextDNS? How can I fix this?

Thanks,

It’s unlikely to be related with NextDNS. Do you have a VPN running?

NextDNS No, I'm not using any VPN. It is definitively NextDNS, as ALL of my devices (2 iPhones, MBP, and iPad) that connect to different NextDNS profiles have the same issues. If I removed NextDNS individually, each of them works normally, while the ones still on NextDNS do not. Reenabling NextDNS causes the problem to reappear.

I've checked the logs, and no Netflix servers were blocked. This happened only about 2 days ago. NextDNS had been working fine before. I haven't made any changes to my NextDNS rules or filters.

The exact message from Netflix while trying to open a title exclusive to US (Arcane, Dark Matter, Manifest, etc.) was "This is not available to watch in your area." And "Top 10 in US" also disappeared.

I had to disable NextDNS for now, until this issue is resolved.

John Smith can you please DM me your IP and the result of https://ping.nextdns.io?

Are you running it on a router? Reason I ask is, with my UDM, NextDNS will add iptables rules to intercept all DNS traffic. This is cool until you start using a OpenVPN client on the same router, then the same thing happened to me. Netflix, Hulu etc. stopped working via the VPN. I have a feature request open for the NextDNS cli to implement a feature to bypass NextDNS for specific source addresses / networks. https://github.com/nextdns/nextdns/issues/613. Maybe the same could be of interest to you to?

Jaco Greyling are you sure?  That's actually been a requested feature from a lot of people I don't think it does work.

Thanks for the hint... I used NextDNS to all my home devices (from my Asus Router), but for my Samsung SmarTV I add 8.8.8.8 (Google) for its DNS. I also specify in my Asus Router that all its traffic has to pass through the main internet connection and NOT the configured VPN.

      Regards,

      Adas
