Issue with Paramount+
So, for some reason, when attempting to stream Paramount+, I can never get the content to load when using Apple TV, Mac, or even iOS/iPadOS. When I turn NextDNS off or utilize a different DNS Provider I don’t seem to have issues. I’ve tried going through and adding the urls NextDNS is blocking to my allowlist but I’m still encountering issues. I don’t have this problem with any other streaming app, just this one. Is there any type of foreseeable fix in the future for this?

I don't currently see any other forum posts or github issues mentioning this service. I suggest using only the oisd blocklist (if you have any others) for testing as it's focused on functionality. It that doesn't work, I would try using NextDNS with no blocklists at all and then test from there

I had the same issue. Looked it up on Reddit and got a list of like 20 domains to unblock, which kinda helped for some shows, but not all. Some videos just wouldn't stream and you'd get the spinner forever. Eventually I just switched between the OISD blocklist for the default NextDNS one that they recommend. Now Paramount works and ads are still blocked.

Same problem here and we are now in 2023!!
Paramount+ won’t work on my Samsung Tv. Works fine if I use 1.1.1.1 as DNS
The strange thing is nothing is blocked. I have no blocklists activated and in the logs is nothing blocked.
must be something wrong on the NextDns side. -
Tried it without CNAME Flattening and without EDNS. It is still not working with nextDNS.
The blocklist is completely empty.... 1.1.1.1 works perfectly fine. Very strange.

Still no luck. I tried it again. Paramount works with all devices with nextDNS except for the Samsung TV. There I can only get it to work when changing to a different DNS server. It definitely doesn’t work with NextDNS

You must add all these domains to the whitelist.
.livec0a3575.airspace-c.cbsivideo.com
*.cbsaavideo.com
*.syncbak-mediastore-cedexis.cbsaavideo.com
*.availability-edgecast.syncbak-mediastore-cedexis.cbsaavideo.com
*.vodvideo.cbsnews.com
*.prod.vodvideo.cbsnews.com
*.cbsnews.com
*.feeds-cbsn.cbsnews.com
*.cbsi.com
*.isgprivacy.cbsi.com
*.production-cmp.isgprivacy.cbsi.com
*.cbsi.video
*.play.cbsi.video
*.lineup.play.cbsi.video

If you’ve unblocked *.cbsi.com, do you really need to unblock other subdomains like *.play.cbsi.video?

I’ve tried using OISD and the NextDNS list separately and have the issues on my LG televisions. It definitely is something to do with the app that has been developed for LG TVs and something configured in NextDNS because the mobile app has no issues. I’ve whitelisted the following (whitelisting doubleclick makes me cringe):
*.partnerad.l.doubleclick.net
*.pubads.g.doubleclick.net
*.paramountplus.com
*.criteo.com
*.cbsi.video
*.deltadna.net
*.adobedc.net
*.kochava.com
*.cbs.com
*.lnks.gd
*.cbsivideo.com
*.cbsaavideo.com
*.demdex.net
*.rlcdn.com
*.branch.io
*.conviva.com
*.omtrdc.net
*.cbsi.com

I can play paramount+ content(movies, shows) but I cannot play extras, previews, trailers using a Appletv+streamer. Tried adding allow list from above and turn off CNAME flattening and the EDNS as well, no change. Also allow any blocked items while trying to stream anything on paramountplus. This has been happening for long time for me. Thought I was the only one having this problem. Glad I am not the only one.

Still cannot play extras; trailers on paramount+ on a appletv+ but did add two blocked domains to allowlist. Also added the allowlist above but still does not play. Don't know what else to try.

NextDNS doesn't work with Apple TV for Paramount+ app, but it does work with Roku. Don't know why...I like my Apple TV better than the Roku, though, so I'm currently not using NextDNS. Will try some configurations given above, but seems to be a lot of problems even with these. Maybe I'll get lucky, but am tired of spending time on this one.

I fixed the issue with Paramount+ on my setup anyway. If you enable DNSSEC in Unbound while using DNS over TLS it stops Paramount+ from working. Unchecked DNSSEC in Unbound and now stream again. Also added any block addresses to Allow list helped.
My setup uses OPNsense on the router.
It sure would be great if Nextdns team would have detailed setup instructions to prevent this sort of event. Still waiting for EndeavourOS to NextDNS cli compatible list it is based on Archlinux.
Using DoT on a OPNsense router has better DNS steering than DoH.

I've had various difficulties with content playback on Paramount Plus. Here is the White List, that worked of me as of 07/26/2023 @ 4:35 PM.

I needed to whitelist this domain to get it working:
geolocation.onetrust.com
-
I've tried all of these for CBS shows.
Still can't get in.
Any ideas what I'm missing?
