is there a DOH issue..?

does it happen again? my configuration status is not stable.. is it caused by a problem at the DNS over HTTPS or DNS over TLS protocols?

does anyone face the same problem?

You could try to re-install the configuration file, there have been times where the Private Relay option in iOS makes double DNS where NextDNS works but doesn't show up if you can still see the logs and things are blocked then it's fine.

Hey thanks for replying but I'm facing this issue on my windows Pc also my android phone. Pc is connected on DOH protocol and the phone on DOT.

also, I tried the linked IP connection but it drops down sometimes. I think the most stale now is the DOT protocol

I am facing the same issue. DoH intermittently breaks and automatically fixes itself over and over again, and in the time of the breakage, lets through a lot of ads.

This is the error I get in the web UI whenever this happens:

This device is using NextDNS with no configuration.

Make sure you use the DNS-over-HTTPS endpoint shown below.

Ankit Pati if u r connected to a PC try the linked IP option if mobile try the DOT these 2 options are the most stable till now

kirollos sameh DoT in fact works great for me, even on PC. (I use Linux, so systemd-resolved handles it for me.)

However I’m still interested in using DoH because it is less susceptible to interception and blocking as it runs on port 443, like most of the web these days.

Ankit Pati yea DOH is necessary we are waiting till NextDns deploy and fix the protocol.. but my opinion DOT is more secure as it works at the operating system level which is lower than the app level (DOH). in other words machines are connected by DOT application are connected by DOH

kirollos sameh The way I have my laptops and phones set is that the rest of the system uses DoT, and Chromium-compatible browsers which have the DoH option use that, instead, so I get the best of both worlds.

Ankit Pati at this point DOH overrides DOT if ur operating system is set on DOT you Don't need to use the browser option.. even sometimes enabling the HTTPS in the browser breaks the DNS filtering

anyway, I think that there is good news.. I think DOH starts to be stable...

I'll test for the next 24H and get back to you... ✌

kirollos sameh Yes, that is right. The browser uses DoH, which overrides the OS-wide DoT for other apps. That also means when DoH breaks, ad blocking breaks in the browser, but continues working in all other apps.

Ankit Pati yes and if you disable the DOH you will get the ads blocked in the browser too✌
