"Network has no internet access" when work profile (work apps) is enabled

• Pixel 8, Android 14 latest version (June 2024 feature update)

Scenario: I use the private dns feature built into Android to use NextDNS.  I also use my phone for Work apps (that uses a VPN for the work apps).  Up until late last week, I have never had an issue with using NextDNS in private DNS and using my work apps.

Now, when the work profile is enabled, I receive the error "Network has no internet access, Private DNS server cannot be accessed".  When this happens, I only cannot connect to the work apps in the work profile.  All personal apps still have internet access.  Also, when I switch to Private DNS option Automatic (from Google), this error goes away, telling me this is something to do with NextDNS.

I reached out to my IT department who manages the work apps and they stated they haven't made any recent changes that would impact private DNS functionality in Android.

Anyone know what could be going on here?
