Cascading/Hierarchical Configurations?

Apologies if this has been suggested before - new here.

I maintain a set of NextDNS configurations for various DoH, DoT & plain DNS/DNSSEC client software (browsers, email clients, OS resolvers, routers) over several Internet connections for myself & my less tech-savvy family members.

I find myself having to to duplicate part of the configuration between all, then change subsets in common ways then tweak individual configurations specifically.

It would be very useful if I could arrange my configurations in a tree and have the configuration from tree parents apply by default in children, with the option to keep the parent option in a child or override it.

This isn't automatic, but you can backup and restore config with https://github.com/hjk789/NXEnhanced so you can for example restore the master config to several config and tweak them from there.

Martheen Thanks for the suggestion. I can certainly do something with Python with that. I can reverse engineer and automate the load/save as well, if I can find the time. (It's been asked before, but a documented token-auth REST API would be a real boon.)
