Add custom hosts file?

I want to add Goodbye Ads' YouTube adblock hosts file, but I don't see any option to add custom hosts file in NextDNS. I already use Goodbye Ads blocklist but it doesn't block youtube ads. Is there a way to use custom hosts file or specifically block YouTube ads with NextDNS?

I think you're out of luck in this case. NextDNS does not offer a way to import a list like that. Depending on your browser/device, you can check into getting an adblock type extension into which you could load that list.

Thanks for the info. Is there a plan to implement this in the future?

Most of the devices on my network are android phones, and most mobile browsers don't support extensions.

I know Brave supports YouTube adblock, but I don't use Brave.

As I'm just a "volunteer" here, offering little bits of help where I can, I don't have any view into NextDNS' roadmap. I do know such a feature has been requested many times over the years and I can only assume based on that, it's not really a priority for them at this point.

I'm not sure if you have particular reasons for avoiding the Brave browser, but I use it myself at times and it does a respectable job at ad (youtube or otherwise) blocking.

OK, thanks anyways. The reason why I'm avoiding a browser switch because it's not possible for me to convince everyone in my family to use Brave or some other browser, but I still want them to have an adfree youtube experience. If I could, I would have made them all use NewPipe or Revanced. And personally I don't use brave because it's very bloated and contains cryptocurrency spyware. I use Cromite and uBlock origin myself, and have already added the Goodbye Ads youtube adblock hosts file.

Implementing universal custom blocklist uploads is infeasible for DNS services due to inherent infrastructure limits.

Apart from that, the list mentioned is completely useless. Youtube Ads cannot be blocked via DNS. The ads are delivered via the same domains as the video content itself.

Thanks, but please check the hosts file properly, it contains the same domains as the videos themselves (i.e googlevideo.com), but only the ones used to serve ads. It definitely blocks (or atleast reduces) the ads.
