Nextdns and ubiquiti dream machine ip linking

Hello, 

I'm hoping someone can help me with a problem I'm having.  I've read some guides and googled but can't work this out. 

I have setup a WiFi ssid on my dream machine to point to nextdns dns servers. 

I have linked the ip address and the green tick is on the nextdns console.  

But when I browse the Internet from a device on that WiFi network the filtering isn't applying. I can log into my nextdns account on that device and it says that the device is using nextdns dns servers but it isn't being protected. 

I haven't been able to work out why that is, can anyone help?

    I've narrowed this problem down to only occurring on on Android mobile devices (I don't have anything apple).  Windows 10 laptop connected the my WiFi connection using NextDNS will apply to nextDNS settings but anything Android will not.

    Any ideas of what I can look for to fix this?

    I had to turn off private DNS on my Android for it to work.

     

    • Settings -> Connections -> More connection settings -> Private DNS
