Not working on Mac, with app: "This device is using NextDNS with no configuration."

Asus router config was not working for my Mac using the router CLI.

So now I'm trying the NextDNS app from App Store.

And I'm still seeing "This device is using NextDNS with no configuration."

The VPN is active and connected.

What's going on?

     Which VPN?

    NextDNS isn't a VPN.

Ze'ev Location looks a bit odd in your app settings, my app says automatic - yours is set 1.1.1.1

try changing that see if it helps?

VPN and nextDNS are 2 very different things you either use one or the other
I don't not think both can work together?!

    Forget about the app on the mac I never really took to that try this below;

Set your ASUS router settings DNS servers as follows

    • From the advanced menu on the left side, click WAN.
    • Next to Connect to DNS Server automatically, click No.
    • Add the DNS addresses as displayed in your nextDNS dashboard

You can also link the IP address of the router as described on your dashboard

Plus look at the mac setup guide: I have it woking on Catalnia
Use the Apple Configuration Profile Generator available at apple.nextdns.io.

Terry Webbs I'm only trying the Mac app because the CLI installed on my Asus Merlin was not working either.

I asked for help on github but issue was closed as "non CLI issue."

      Was told to ask here.

On the verge of canceling my subscription ... if I pay, I feel there should be some basic "contact us" support.

Terry Webbs FWIW, I just tried the Config Profile, and it doesn't work either. Catalina.

Ze'ev never used merlin but it must be similar to stuff I used way back hacking netgear and linksys routers,  If you stick to the basic setup of the router first by simply changing the DNS addresses and then linking the router IP address in your nextDNS dashboard hopefully you might be able to work forward from there... sorry I never asked, have you tried that?

Terry Webbs  I have about 12 devices in the house, and 5 separate configs. Just setting DNS IP on router is not what I want. I want each device using the right config. Which is what the router CLI is "supposed" to do. But it's not working, and support is nonexistent.

Ze'ev yes I see now, shame I can’t help much with that configuration setup!

Hopefully someone else can step in and help you with the CLI router issue? Good luck
