Play Store Won't let me install NextDNS
I had to do a full reset on my wife's Moto Power G (2022) and now the Google Play Store won't allow me to download and install the NextDNS app.
Can someone explain what's going on? I tried to search for an answer, but nothing definitive.
I tried to get the app from APKPure but that seemed to point me at some other app (really confusing!).

Android NextDNS app has been removed from the Google Play Store.
Try from apkmirror or another third-party app providing DoH/DoT connections.

That's a very old version, 1.2, back from Jan, 2021. My phone is running 5.5.18.
I doubt that it would work anymore.
I had the app loaded on her phone before and it was working. Because of some problems, I ended up having to do a full reset. Now they won't load it. I don't understand why...

Here is a snapshot of my NextDNSManager.
I was supprised to notice the Disclaimer:
"This app and it's developer are NOT affiliated with NextDNS."
I wasn't aware of this.
What's the difference between the (archived?) NextDNS, v1.2 and this NextDNSManager 5.5.18?

No need to use an app

Micke,
Can you clarify that?
How do you configure it without the App?
I occasionally have to turn off the App, is there a quick way to do that? Problem is, this is for my wife's phone, she isn't too technical.

My Play Store says that app compatibility varies by phone. But the app wasn't installed on my phone; I only accessed the Play Store because, a moment ago, my phone warned me that my 4G connection wasn't working with NextDNS. I can connect normally via Wi-Fi, the problem is only with 4G. Maybe that's related? I created an account here just to investigate It, by the way

As Micke said, the NextDNS app isn't needed for Android. Use the Private DNS setting as directed in the NextDNS Setup information. The Private DNS setting has been part of Android since Android 9, released over 7 years ago. The app used to use a VPN to apply the DNS settings, so if things changed with regards to VPN settings or other related functions, it may not work anymore.

OK, I found it.
Thank you!
