Nextdns on ios and apple products

Hi,

I have been using nextdns for long time and I am happy with it.
i was using it as an app from apple store. But recently I went to the nextdns website and downloaded the nextdns profile. Because it says recommended.
I just would like to ask if is there any difference between the app from the appstore and the downloaded profile ?
I noticed my phone got more heat after downloading the profile. Correct me if I am wrong.
looking to hear from you.

I just setup NextDNS on my iPhone and iPad yesterday, and have noticed a few things. Using the NextDNS profile that I downloaded only seems to work while connected to WiFi. If I'm on cellular, then I use my provider's DNS. According to ChatGPT, using the app will allow me to use NextDNS on both wifi and cellular, but I'm not been able to make that work.

I created individual profiles for my all of my devices including my iPhone, iPad, MacBook Pro and MacStudio. When I leave the house or toggle wifi off/on, my iPhone and iPad connect to my router's profile instead of their own. This happens with both the app and the config file. Very strange.

      Hi,

no the downloaded profile works fine, it force the OS to use the nextdns. On Wifi or cellular.

, it's not working that way for me, sadly.

You may want to check and confirm that you do not have iCloud Private Relay enabled. That can and does circumvent NextDNS' profile on iOS devices.
